Fibreno trout (Salmo fibreni)

Fish of the Salmo genus of the Salmoninae subfamily of the Salmonidae family of the Salmoniformes order of the Protacanthopterygii superorder.

Fibreno trout (Salmo fibreni) was first described in 1990 by Italian biologists Sergio Zerunian and Gilberto Gandolfi. The recorded maximum length is 19.5 cm. It feeds on insects.

It’s the endemic of a small Lake Posta Fibreno (province of Frosinone, Lazio, Italy). Occasionally, it enters its tributaries.

It is listed in IUCN Red List as a vulnerable species (VU).
