Fish of the Clinitrachus genus of the Clinidae family of the Blenniiformes (blenny) order of the Ovalentaria clade of the Acanthopterygii superorder.

Cline (Clinitrachus argentatus) was first described in 1810 by the French naturalist Antoine Risso (1777-1845).
It occurs near the coast in beds of underwater vegetation. The maximum recorded length is 10 cm. It feeds on small bottom organisms.
It is a permanent infrequent inhabitant of the Adriatic Sea.
