Fish of the Lesueurigobius genus of the Gobiinae (true gobies) subfamily of the Gobiidae family of the Gobiiformes order of the Percomorpha clade of the Acanthopterygii superorder.

Fries‘s goby (Lesueurigobius friesii) was first described in 1874 by the Swedish zoologist August Wilhelm Malm (1821-1882). It inhabits the depth of 10-130 meters. It occurs near a mud bottom. The maximum recorded length is 13 cm. It feeds on small crustaceans and mollusks.

It is a permanent inhabitant of the Adriatic Sea.
