Marbled goby (Pomatoschistus marmoratus)

Fish of the Pomatoschistus genus of the Gobiinae (true gobies) subfamily of the Gobiidae family of the Gobiiformes order of the Percomorpha clade of the Acanthopterygii superorder.

Marbled goby (Pomatoschistus marmoratus) was first described in 1810 by the French naturalist Antoine Risso (1777-1845).

It inhabits the depth of 20-70 meters. It occurs near the sandy bottom. The maximum recorded length is 8 cm. It feeds on small crustaceans.

It is a permanent inhabitant of the Adriatic Sea.
