Barje sculpin (Cottus metae)

Fish of the Cottus genus of the Cottidae family of the superfamily Cottoidea of the suborder Cottoidei of the Scorpaeniformes order of the Acanthopterygii superorder.

Barje sculpin (Cottus metae) was first described in 2005 by the ichthyologists Jörg Freyhof, Maurice Kottelat and Nolte. It inhabits the streams and small rivers with clear water. The maximum recorded length is 9.7 cm. It feeds on bottom invertebrates.

It is an endemic from the Sava River Basin in Slovenia.
