Fish of the Lobianchia genus of the Myctophidae (lanternfishes or myctophids) family of the Myctophiformes order of the Scopelomorpha superorder.

Dofleini’s lantern fish (Lobianchia dofleini) was first described in 1911 by the Austrian zoologist and ichthyologist Erich Zugmayer (1879-1938).

Bathypelagic species. It occurs at the depth of 0-4000 meters. The maximum recorded length is 5 cm. It feeds on zooplankton.

It is a permanent inhabitant of the southern part of the Adriatic Sea.
