Fish of the Didogobius genus of the Gobiinae (true gobies) subfamily of the Gobiidae family of the Gobiiformes order of the Percomorpha clade of the Acanthopterygii superorder.

Didogobius splechtnai was first described in 1995 by Austrian ichthyologists and biologists Robert A. Patzner and Harald Ahnelt.

It inhabits the depth of 5-56 meters. It occurs in underwater caves. The maximum recorded length is 2.8 cm.

It is a rare species. It is an inhabitant of the Adriatic Sea.
