Striped goby (Gobius vittatus)

Fish of the Gobius genus of the Gobiinae (true gobies) subfamily of the Gobiidae family of the Gobiiformes order of the Percomorpha clade of the Acanthopterygii superorder.

Striped goby (Gobius vittatus) was first described in 1928 by the Italian physicist and ichthyologist Decio Vinciguerra (1856-1934).

It inhabits the depth of 15-85 meters, usually 15-50 meters. The maximum recorded length is 5.8 cm. It feeds on crustaceans and algae.

It is a rare permanent inhabitant of the Adriatic Sea. It dwells off the coast of Croatia.
