The Bathysomi suborder is still in question, since the related features of the fish are not fully proven. This suborder is more often called the basal (basic) one and “Incertae Sedis”, that is, of indeterminate position. But, for the sake of simplicity, adriaticnature will stick to the not fully approved name of the suborder, that is, Bathysomi.

Perhaps, the most unusual fish, which are found in the World ocean, are included in the Lampriformes order.

In the Adriatic, the Bathysomi suborder is represented by the Lampridae family. The Taeniosomi suborder is represented by the Lophotidae family, the Regalecidae family and the Trachipteridae family.
