Foureyed sole (Microchirus ocellatus) was first described in 1758 by the Swedish scientist Carl Linnaeus (1707 – 1778).
It lives at the depth of 30-300 meters, prefers to swim near a muddy and sandy bottom. The maximum recorded length is 20 cm; specimens up to 15 cm long are more common. It feeds on crustaceans and mollusks.
