Fish of the Diaphus genus of the Myctophidae (lanternfishes or myctophids) family of the Myctophiformes order of the Scopelomorpha superorder.

Small lantern fish (Diaphus holti) was first described in 1918 by the Danish ichthyologist Åge Vedel Tåning (1890-1958).
It occurs at the depth of 40-777 meters. Bathypelagic species. The maximum recorded length is 7 cm. It feeds on crustaceans.
It is a permanent inhabitant of the southern part of the Adriatic Sea.
