Fish of the Hygophum genus of the Myctophidae (lanternfishes or myctophids) family of the Myctophiformes order of the Scopelomorpha superorder.

Bermuda lantern fish (Hygophum hygomii) was first described in 1892 by the Danish zoologist Christian Frederik Lütken (1827-1901).
Bathypelagic species. It occurs at the depth of 0-800 meters. The maximum recorded length is 6.8 cm. It feeds on crustaceans.
It is a permanent inhabitant of the southern part of the Adriatic Sea.
