Fish of the Opeatogenys genus of the Gobiesocinae subfamily of the Gobiesocidae (clingfishes) family of the Gobiesociformes order of the Acanthopterygii superorder.

Opeatogenys gracilis was first described in 1864 by the Italian naturalist and biologist Giovanni Canestrini (1835-1900).
It is often found in the fields of laminaria, having stuck to the leaves. The maximum recorded length is 3 cm. It feeds on near-bottom organisms.
It is a rare inhabitant of the Adriatic Sea.
